The GBC and ICPO Director Kamalesh Krishna dasa held discussions from March 1st to 3rd, 2024, on improving child protection efforts. It was recognized that there is room for improvement at various levels of administration and the application of established procedures. Everyone present in the discussion committed to making increased efforts to support the ICPO.
Main conclusions from the resolution
As a result, the GBC resolved to:
- increase the ICPO budget;
- reappoint Kamalesh Krishna das as ICPO Director until March 1, 2025;
- establish an interim Oversight Committee to ensure compliance with policies.
Key priorities for the current ICPO Director
Key priorities for the current ICPO Director in the coming year will include:
- resolving pending cases;
- collaborating with Regional CPOs, especially Bharat CPO;
- supporting Regional CPOs in establishing their own review panels;
- providing quarterly updates as well as a detailed annual account of expenses.
Additional decisions
The GBC may also appoint a Co-Director and consider restructuring the ICPO based on recommendations from the ESO and 2023 Child Protection Review Committee.
